Merry Meet to all my fellow Witches out there. I am a Third Degree, Elevated High Priestess in the Gardnerian/Alexandrian tradition of Wicca. I have been practicing Paganism and Witchcraft for a number of years....too many for me to acknowledge! Although I have earned the title of High Priestess in the highest level of the Wiccan tradition, and the years it took me to get there, I am more Pagan and Witch than anything else and no longer call myself Wiccan, as according to the Oxford Dictionary, Wicca is a male term. I also do not follow the Wiccan religion because of its male emphasis on the Sun God and a religion entitled with a male name when it is a Goddess religion. I am simply a Witch and Pagan. I have never regretted the many years of training which I received as an initiated Wiccan. I also took many workshops in the arts of magick and its symbolism, ritual work, divination, etc.
I was in partnership of two other websites in that the other person did the graphics, and I provided all of the material. She approached me to create these websites, since she had no material whatsoever and I was a Third Degree High Priestess. Later on, she decided to go her separate way and instead of only taking the domain names and graphics, she took my material which took years to build with her, since she had no material of her own and that included the Great Goddess Hecate. The two websites are Hecate Beneath the Veil and Sisters of the Craft. I went on to learn how to create this most magickal website and have added much more material and will continue to do so, as being a Witch flows strongly through my veins. I am now the Webweaver and Wordweaver of my own website. Perhaps it is what the Goddess Hecate wanted all along for me, as I have always been a Priestess of Hecate, and it ended up working out great. Through Her inner strength and wisdom, I was able to put a website together of my own and build upon that, which was a huge challenge for me, as I knew practically nothing regarding graphics and web building back then. Fritz, of Witche's Voice gave me great encouragement. Thank you Fritz! The Goddess Hecate has opened many doors for me so that I could continue on with my work in serving Her, the Goddess religion, and being Her Priestess.
I was High Priestess of my own coven entitled Hecate's Cauldron for many years, but since I am now walking the Crone path, I have decided my only teachings will be through my ecoven and my website. Since I have stepped down from running a live coven, I no longer initiate. I do NOT believe in online initiations. Somes things simply cannot be done over the internet. I have my own ideas and teachings and wish to not follow a religion created by yet another man and a religion named for a male entitled "Wicca." This is a Goddess religion not a God religion. Please read Descent Unveiled and Women and Dark Moon Magick as well as the The Goddess Path for further information.
I follow the Moon and perform moon rituals. I celebrate the true Celtic Sabbats which Gardner calls the four Greater Sabbats. What I mean by "celebrate" is that I do not do any kind of formal ritual for the Sabbats, as I feel yesteryear's pagans did more of celebrations and gathered together and celebrated rather than attending some formal rituals with athames and casting circles. The pagans lived very simple lives and were farmers who depended on the land and worked very hard just as my husband is a farmer and depends on the land and Mother Nature.
I was a tarot reader by profession for many years and my only wish was to help others through the cards. I live each day the path of a Witch and consult my Tarot and Crystal Ball. I am dedicated to the Goddess and each month, whether the Moon be full or dark, I perform a ritual on Her behalf. I also burn a candle for Her each day.
I am moderator/owner of a very successful all women's Yahoo Group in which Witches join and share in the celebration of the Goddess as well as Witchcraft. If you wish to join, you can do so by flying back to the Home Page and click on "Join Our Group" image. It is a great place to go for the magick and the mystery of Hecate. The group's name is SistersoftheCraft. It was formed on behalf of my old website of Sisters of the Craft when it went public back in early spring 2000 through popular demand. Since I was the wordweaver of those two websites, I became the Owner of the Group.
Because of my love for birds of prey, I am also a licensed falconer. In the U.S., by federal law, you have to be licensed. What does it mean to be a licensed falconer, you ask? It means many hours of studying and then passing a written test which is not the easiest test and going through other Federal and State regulations. It means trapping a hawk either in the mountains, which I did, or along the roadside. It means spending four or more hours a day with a newly trapped hawk for at least one month and then two hours a day after they are flying free during hunting season, as these birds are not pets. We train them to accept us and to allow us to go with them when they hunt and assist them in the hunt. They learn to follow us, as they soon realize that we help flush the prey out. After that, it is in their talons!
It takes a lot of training, dedication and working with an immature Redtail Hawk or any wild bird of prey.. An immature hawk is one whom is born in late spring and is considered a passage, as it is going through its first passage in life. We are allowed to trap an immature redtail hawk because 80 percent of first-year born hawks do not make it. They are either killed by motor vehicles or die a terrible death through the means of starvation. Once they make it through their most difficult year, they are considered a haggard (hag) and falconers are not allowed to trap them, as they are considered breeding material. However, the average haggard hawk lives only five years or so. A falconer's hawk, because it is taken care of and eats well, lives to the age of 20 or so.
Since the females of all birds of prey are larger and are more aggressive, most falconers wish a female. Being a falconer is like being a Witch....it is in your blood and it fits in your daily life.
My favorite bird and familiar is the Owl. I own a female Eurasian Eagle Owl, whose name is Harriett and her mate, Ozzie, a male Eurasian Eagle Owl. I also own another male Eagle Owl who was born with flying problems. His name is Oliver and he is sweet. These birds are captive bred in the U.S. The Eagle Owl is the largest Owl in the world and is indigenous to Europe. The female Eagle Owl weighs from 6 to 8 pounds whereas a male weighs from 4 to 6 pounds. Harriett weighs eight pounds. They look like the Great Horned Owl but a lot bigger. Yep, you read right......bigger. Harriett has laid eggs these past couple of years, but they were not fertile. Hopefully next year! In the spring 2014, I captured a Great Horned Owl who has adjusted wonderfully and eats me out of house and home. It makes me wonder how much food Hector would have been able to eat out in the wild. I also own an African Pied Crow which has the beak of a Raven and larger than our American Crow.. Her name is Raven after the Baltimore Raven Football team. She is a real character and gets into everything. She is very intelligent and mimics me. As Edgar Allen Poe has always believed, Crows and Ravens are really intelligent birds.
The beauty of falconry is not in how much food the hawk captures, nor how large a bird is or its hunting abilities. The beauty is that it is the hawk's choice to return to the glove each time you call them down for the day. A successful day is not the catch of the day but upon returning home with your hawk.
I also paint in oils, mainly in landscapes something similar to Thomas Kincaid, as well as paint with acrylics in the one-step painting style of Decorative Painting.
Being born under the sign of Cancer and having a Gemini Moon, my mind is always creating new things, so I will be adding more material to the website as I go along. I have added more material upon building this website all in honor of Hecate and Witchcraft. I love being a pagan and Witch, and each day I see magick in life itself. I have studied many paths, but being a Witch and following the Path of the Goddess is very fulfilling, and I have found peace within and without in this most magickal path. Blessed Be.
